Correction

Building a two-step correction from compounds to finishing polish

A two-step is compound then polish. The result depends far more on pad pairing, panel prep and inspection lighting than on which bottle you pick.

01

Prep before any pad touches paint

Wash, chemically decontaminate, and mechanically decontaminate. Polishing over bonded contamination grinds it into the clear coat.

02

Step one: cut

Use a compound with a cutting pad to remove defects. Work a small section, keep the pad flat, and let the abrasive break down fully before wiping.

  • Work 2ft x 2ft sections
  • Moderate pressure on the cut pass, lighter as it finishes
  • Wipe with a clean towel and inspect under strong light

03

Step two: refine

Switch to a finishing polish and a soft polishing or finishing pad. This removes the haze the compound left and brings gloss back up.

04

Verify before you protect

Wipe the panel with a dedicated polish-oil remover or IPA-based prep and inspect again. Oils can hide haze that reappears in direct sun after the customer drives away.

05

Pad hygiene

Clean pads between sections with compressed air or a pad brush, and swap to a fresh pad every panel or two. Loaded pads cut unevenly and cause hazing.
